Director 

Dr. Sha Wang 

Dr. Wang is a performing concert pianist, chamber musician, as well as a sought-after piano pedagogue. Dr. Wang has performed in concert series at Carnegie Hall, Peter Norton Symphony Space, and the Kosciuszko Foundation Auditorium in NYC; Dame Myra Hess Concert Series at the Chicago Cultural Center, Richard Nixon’s Library, Steinway Society of Southwestern PA, as well as other concert venues throughout the country. She has appeared on WQED FM Pittsburgh, WFMT 98.7 Chicago and other media outlets in Asia and Europe. She was also featured in a concert for the late U.S. President Gerald Ford. As a collaborative pianist, she has performed with artists such as pianist Lang Lang, and chamber musicians from major orchestras worldwide. She was the first prize winner at the 16th International Young Artist Piano Competition, Washington, D.C. and advanced into the Jose Iturbi International Music Competition, the Hilton Head International Piano Competition, and the Honens International Piano Competition. She is also the winner of the Pittsburgh Concert Society Major Audition and the Bradshaw & Buono International Piano Competition. Dr. Wang is a frequent adjudicator for national and international music competitions, a clinician at State and National conferences and various masterclasses. Her students have won national and international music competitions as well as performing on the most prestigious stages worldwide. Dr. Wang is the executive director of the Pittsburgh International Performance Competition and Festival. Her current concertizing schedules include Carnegie Hall in New York and Mozarthaus & Museum in Vienna, Austria. Dr. Wang is a tenured professor and music department chair at Geneva College, PA.

Dr. Hyun Joo Park

Born in Seoul, South Korea, Hyun Joo Park graduated with an Artist Diploma at Duquesne University, Doctorate and Master’s Degrees at Penn State University, and a Bachelor’s Degree with highest honor at Sookmyung Women’s University in Korea. Since her Carnegie Hall debut, she has given recitals in prestigious venues in Korea, France, and the United States. Park holds awards from the Piano Academy of Korea, the Seoul National Orchestra Concerto Competition, the Pennsylvania Music Teachers Association Competition, and the American Protégé International Piano and String Competition. She has won concerto competitions at every university she attended. In Pittsburgh, she is active as a private teacher and accompanist, recently serving as a judge for the Pittsburgh International Piano Competition. 


Faculty

Ms. Emma Dale

Emma Dale is a music education student at Duquesne University, where she studies piano as her primary instrument. When she graduates from Duquesne, she plans on teaching either elementary general music or beginning band and pursuing a master's degree in collaborative piano. Emma has played piano since the third grade, making this her 12th year as a pianist. She studied under the studios of Henry Wong Doe at Indiana University of Pennsylvania, Anoush Tchakarian at Duquesne University, and currently is playing under the studio of Kevin Lee Sun at Duquesne University. Some of Emma's piano experience includes choral accompaniment, jazz, musical theatre pit, and solo piano. She is very excited to begin her journey in working with young musicians, and as a private lesson instructor.  

Mr. Jeffery Israel

Jeffrey is a recent graduate of the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University, Bloomington where he earned a Bachelors in Piano Performance and Classical Studies. During his time in Indiana, Jeffrey studied with the late Edmund Battersby and Jean-Louis Haguenauer. Additionally, he studied piano pedagogy with Dr. Vicki King. Jeffrey has worked as both a soloist and collaborative pianist. He has performed house concerts, given recitals at nursing homes, and played at many weddings. As a collaborator, Jeffrey has years of experience as a vocal accompanist; he has performed in numerous voice recitals, lessons, and masterclasses as well as working as a rehearsal pianist for Indiana University’s Gilbert and Sullivan Society. While in Bloomington, Jeffrey worked as a private teacher of both young students and collegiate peers, and he frequently taught as a substitute for teachers at Indiana University’s Piano Academy.
